We are looking to recruit a Transitional/Assistant/Associate Professor to the School of Computer Science to enhance our research and teaching in interactive music.
We have a long history of multi-disciplinary research at the boundary between Computer Science and the Arts, collaborating with artists and performers to develop, tour and study interactive performances that push the boundaries of how humans experience digital technologies. We have recently appointed Professor Craig Vear jointly between Computer Science and Music to expand our research and teaching in interactive music. We wish to appoint a Transitional/Assistant/Associate Professor to work with Craig and the team to extend our interests across Human-Computer Interaction, Mixed Reality, and/or Artificial Intelligence as applied to music.
As a Transitional/Assistant/Associate Professor, you will be a promising career researcher with the potential to develop a national reputation in your chosen field and will have the opportunity to make an impact on the research and teaching of the discipline. You will undertake research, individually and collaboratively, publishing high-quality research papers, taking the lead on planning and running projects to complement the existing research of the School. You will seek and secure funding through the development of research proposals and be active in research and knowledge exchange projects. You will have the ability to deliver a high standard of teaching through a variety of methods to support the School’s teaching requirements, within your area of expertise.
Our vision as a School is to be highly rated in all areas: Research and Knowledge Exchange, Education and Student Experience. We are committed to creating opportunities for people from groups traditionally underrepresented in the field of Computer Science and therefore the ability to relate to and mentor students and colleagues within an increasingly ethnically and gender diverse community is essential.
See our recruitment microsite (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/jobs/currentvacancies/computer-science-opportunities/index.aspx ) for more information on our School’s vision, research profile, and role within the university strategy.
At the University of Nottingham, we aim to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop, and reach your professional and personal career goals. You will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance.
This is a permanent position. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 18.25 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. We are open to discuss flexible working arrangement. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Craig Vear ([email protected]) Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
