How can you make a difference?
Under supervision of the NOB Accounting and Finance Officer the incumbent performs specialized tasks in the accounting and finance functions.
Specific responsibilities are highlighted below:
- Receive invoices for JCO, MENARO, SOP and any other office in relation of the emergency invoice payments, verify accuracy, correctness including coding and completeness of documents and including checking the availability of adequate funding as appropriate
- Receive and process travel related transactions and prepare for payment for staff TAs and other staff entitlements and travel agents’ invoices
- Work as focal point to the Global Shared Service Center (GSSC) in Budapest for submitting all country office invoices, payment requests and general accounting cases.
- Follow up banking issues and requesting replenishments for the JCO, MENARO & SOP bank accounts and resolve reconciling items resulted from the monthly bank reconciliations for bank accounts maintained by JCO, MENARO & SOP.
- Maintains financial records and monitoring systems to record and reconcile expenditures, balances, payments, statements and other data for day-to-day transactions and reports.
- Perform the monthly payroll activities from identifying funding shortages to confirming accuracy of the payment of the month with the coordination with HR and budget teams
- Advises and assists international staff, experts and consultants on all aspects of allowances, salary advances, travel claims and other financial matters, and calculates and authorizes payments due for claims and services.
- Analyze open items in General Ledger account balances as part of the monthly closure activities.
- Submit all general accounting transactions of change of funding source, adjustment, clearing and Fixed Assets disposal transactions to GSSC in compliance with the current policies and procedures.
- Submit the monthly bank reconciliation needed sheets for GSSC and ensure completion of the bank reconciliation report.
- Review requests for change of funding source and other adjustments and submit requests for change of funding source and other adjustments to GSSC.
- Assists higher level officers in all aspects of accounts maintenance and providing reports on financial status, procedures, costs and expenditures, and potential funding problems.
- monitor the petty cash account and perform the transaction and complete the monthly reconciliation and cash count
- Performs other duties, as required.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Education: Completion of secondary education. Ability to operate calculator or other machines used to maintain accounts. Additional relevant commercial training is desirable. Bachelor degree in related area is an asset.
Experience: Six years’ experience in accounting and finance work
For this position, a bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of related work experience.
Language Requirements: English and Arabic knowledge is required.
