About the Role 
Join our vibrant Art Museums team and make your mark as the Assistant Curator! Collaborate on programming for the Potter Museum of Art, Buxton Contemporary, and Old Quad. Work closely with the Director Art Museums and Head Curator to develop impactful exhibitions and projects. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Contributing to the development and timely delivery of engaging exhibition programs across Art Museums venues, positioning the University as a cultural leader in innovative curatorial practice and art-led teaching. 
  • Working closely with the  Art Museums and Collections teams to  develop, manage and create accessibility to the University Art collection; 
  • Supporting the planning and production of publications and public programs, ensuring the integration of scholarship and academic engagement.  

Who we are looking for 
We’re seeking an Assistant Curator with knowledge of art history and experience working with contemporary visual art practice. We’re on the lookout for a creative professional with a proven track record in delivering  art exhibitions, publications, and curatorial programs. Bring your sound organisational skills to the table, showcasing your ability to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines. 

You will also have: 

  • A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • IT literate. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small, passionate team, displaying initiative, and care and respect for colleagues.
