WACKER POLYSILICON is the global leader in the production of polycrystalline hyperpure silicon for the semiconductor and solar solar industries. At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a(n) Technical Operator – Central Services to join our growing team.
The Technical Operator, Central Services will assist in the performance of manual tasks related to the operation and repair of above and below grade utilities. They will execute non-technical requests for service as generated by departments across the site. This position will support crane and rigging activities, heavy load intra-site logistics, non-hazardous waste storage, excavations, and general site services. Equipment operation of loaders, excavators, etc. is also required. This position may require work with hazardous materials and incumbent will be expected to follow company policies regarding health and environmental protection, safety, and quality. A Technical Operator may be assigned as liaison for a specific work scope such as a large CSA project, Equipment Cleaning, etc. Central Services best suits the candidate who enjoys variety, working in outside conditions year round, and is passionate about treating our environment well.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpret information from DCS (process control system), prints, schematics, etc.
- Operate excavation and loading equipment
- Assist in the operation and troubleshooting of the following networks: inorganic, storm, and sanitary sewers, steam & condensate, cooling water, industrial/fire water, potable water, compressed air, nitrogen and hydrogen
- Assist with equipment cleaning operations as necessary
- Assist in Utility requests for service
- Perform non-technical requests for service
- Maintain records and documentation
- Cooperate with the other qualified staff in scheduling and coordinating servicing, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
- Comply with company policies and procedures for operations, safety and training, health and environmental protection and quality
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Have a minimum High School diploma or GED
- Associate degree in a technical field or Nationally accredited craft designation and prior equipment operation preferred
- 1 year of relevant experience required; 2+ years of relevant experience preferred
- Have proven technical and mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills
- Be able to read Isometrics, P&ID’s, and Layout drawings.
- Teamwork skills with safety and environmental consciousness required
- Good communication skills required
- Be willing to work any shift (including 12-hour shifts and/or rotating shifts) necessary to support a 24/7 operation
- Be willing to work overtime (including weekends and holidays) if necessary
- Must pass pre-employment testing
