Applications are invited for the following Post in the Technological University Dublin:
Post: Post-Doctoral Researcher – Marie Curie ITN Project -Collaborative Intelligence for Safety Critical Systems (Fixed-Term Specified Purpose contract for up to 5 years with initial funding for 18 months) (Reference: 357’23)
Location: Currently located in TU Dublin, Grangegorman, Dublin 7.
Hours of Work: A 37 hour working week is in operation.
Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed at point (01) of the Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale i.e. €45,322 gross per annum.
Closing Date: The closing date for applications is 5pm (IRISH TIME) on 7th of February 2024. Late applications will not be accepted.
It is anticipated that interviews for this post will take place in Early 2024. The interview assessment will be 60 minutes in length and will include a presentation of 7 minutes duration. The topic of this presentation will be as follows:
“My experience in supporting and running research projects”.

Knowledge and Experience
- An Honours Degree from an approved degree awarding institution or equivalent (Essential)
- A Masters degree from an approved degree awarding institution or equivalent (Desirable)
- A PhD or equivalent (Essential).
- Experience in managing and coordinating research project and events, especially if related to Marie Curie or Horizon 2020 funding (Desirable)
- Knowledge of research techniques and methodologies relevant for the project topics (Desirable)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a research team. (Essential)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex information effectively to a range of audiences. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate mix of knowledge, experience, skills, talent and abilities.
- Self-motivated and able to manage own workload.
- Ability to work under pressure, to prioritise tasks effectively and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Experience of using Microsoft Office or other relevant software packages.
Role Overview
As coordinator, TU Dublin is responsible for the financial management of the project and providing administration to the ESRs and supervisors in TU Dublin and to the entire consortium where the activities are network related. The mentoring Principal Investigator (PI) will advise the appointee on the conduct of their research management activities that will be part of a research programme that the PI is responsible for. The intention is that during the employment of the appointee, they will avail of learning opportunities provided by TU Dublin and/or external agencies related to the project research programme.
Principal Accountabilities
- To act as programme manager, responsible for ensuring that the team of researchers undertake the research to a high standard and deliver outputs on time and in accordance with the schedule set out by the Project Steering Committee.
- To organise and attend meetings of the Steering Committee, and ensure that any recommendations made by it are addressed.
- To organise network training events, summer schools and conferences.
- Manage and coordinate mandatory reporting to the funding agency and ensure this is completed to a high standard and in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting guidelines as appropriate.
- To support the undertaking of research and the production of research papers and articles on the research programme.
- To ensure effective dissemination/networking activities, communicating research findings to policy makers, the research community and the public.
- To keep up to date with the progress of the CISC research team contribute effectively to the overall work of the research team.
- To manage associate and other staff assigned to the programme.
- To represent the research team internally and externally as required.
- To contribute to the educational, publications, training and other activities of the network as required.
- To undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time including supporting the ESRs and being part of the supervisory team.
- Oversee the central management of project documentation, collect documents and reports from committees and organise management of these files, provide access to the files to network members
- Assist in various ways at network events (meetings, conferences, summer schools, etc.) hosted at TU Dublin such as preparing attendance lists, name badges, room booking, media development, operating a welcome desk and assisting attendees with house keeping issues
- Under direction from the project coordinator, assist in the preparation of reporting to the funding agency including financial reporting
- Disseminate the outcomes of this research and scholarship including peer-reviewed academic publications of international standing.
- Assist in the further development of the research programme and in seeking and pursuing
appropriate external funding.
- any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the PI or Director of the Faculty/School.
- Comply with all TU Dublin policies and regulations, including those in relation to Research Ethics and Health and Safety.
