Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Director supports developing and implementing innovative, new academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Duties are wide-ranging. The Assistant Director will directly support the Senior Associate Dean in organizing, scheduling, and administering faculty committees and meetings, drafting proposals of academic initiatives for review, administering special projects, and acting as a point of contact and correspondence for the Senior Associate Dean’s office.  The Assistant Director of Academic Affairs will join a group of highly collaborative professionals in the College Dean’s Office and will work to advance the overall goals of supporting academic excellence and ensuring operational effectiveness and fiscal sustainability.

 

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of directly related experience in higher education. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

 

·        Excellent communication skills required.

·        Ability to maintain initiative, be proactive with projects, and show a positive attitude while providing recommendations and solutions that support leadership directives.

·        Must possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of faculty, staff, and administrators across departments.

·        Proven ability to plan, implement, and manage programs and activities.

·        Must be able to manage multiple projects and work in a team environment effectively.

·        Proficiency in desktop computing necessary (including word processing, spreadsheet, and database management, including Microsoft Suite and Adobe.

·        A comfort level for working under pressure to meet deadlines and for using sound judgment in making decisions.

·        An understanding of the value of a Liberal Arts education.

Preferred:

·        Advanced degree

·        Experience in high-level administrative support position

 

 

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
