General Notes
This position requires up to 5% travel throughout the state of Texas, ongoing weekend and evening work to support course implementation, including during summer, spring, and fall professional learning institutes and enrollment deadlines.
Purpose
To lead efforts and ensure fidelity of implementation of the OnRamps Geoscience course and to coordinate a high-level of instructional and professional development service and support to OnRamps Instructors, OnRamps Students, and UT Faculty.
Responsibilities
- Supervise full-time staff to ensure the provision of 1:1 instructional, professional development, and technical service and support to instructors to ensure implementation fidelity, teacher growth in OnRamps four pillars, and retention. Manage systems to provide just in time support to instructors using standardized support strategies. Design and implement strategic interventions for teachers/student improvement.
- Create and oversee the grading mechanism approved by the Instructor of Record is executed with fidelity, including grading and/or supervising grading of college eligibility and college credit assignments, calibration, quality assurance protocols, and other intensive assessment activities.
- Lead the design and implemention of annual professional learning institutes during Summer, Fall, and Spring for Onramps instructors in close collaboration with OnRamps Assistant Director, and Professional Learning and Development team to ensure and enhance course implementation aligned to the OnRamps four pillars.
- Use standardized relationship building strategies to cultivate and lead a facilitated network of Onramps Instructors within the assigned course subject-area through yearlong, ongoing professional development activities by maintaining weekly Newsletters, monthly virtual conferences, and virtual or in-person site visits as needed.
- Design and oversee the the systems to monitor and support curriculum implementation to ensure fidelity to the pillar of college-aligned content. Ensure resources for instructors are current and accessible. Provide feedback to students as needed, including using data to observe student engagment and processing instances of academic integrity.
- Utilize data that illuminates student learning and engagement which could include course engagement, college submissions, and learning outcomes. Employ a data driven decision process that guides professional learning, instructor and student support, enhancement proposals, and daily workflows.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships by communicating and collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to align work and collectively serve the OnRamps mission. Modes include online, telephone, and in-person communication. Provide exceptional customer service, technical support, and a willingness to solve problems with professionalism, positivity, tact and decorum.
- Support and engage in designated special projects and initiatives that are aligned with the OnRamps mission and extend beyond regular course and professional learning eperiences.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Geoscience, Geology, Environmental Science or closely related field and five years teaching experience at a high school or college level.
- Proficient in Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) or another LMS.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders with decorum and tact.
- Ability to communicate technical information to lay audiences using a respectful, client-focused approach.
- Demonstrated understanding of HS teaching and learning in Science courses.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- More than five years of experience managing projects in an enterprise or educational environment.
- Experience with Project Management Tools, e.g., Smartsheet; Learning Management Systems, e.g., Canvas; Human Resources Systems, e.g., Workday.
- Two or more years of experience working in Event Planning and Management.
Salary Range
$80,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
- Hybrid work environment – typically two days a week in the office and three days a week from a remote office.
- May work around standard office conditions.
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
- Climbing of stairs.
