Department Overview
TD Securities (“TDS”) provides a wide range of capital market products and services to corporate, government, and financial institution (“FI”) clients through Global Transaction Banking (“GTB”), Corporate and Investment Banking (“CIB”), and Global Markets (“GM”). The firm works with clients around the world, focusing selectively and strategically on key global financial centers: Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, New York, London, Singapore, and Tokyo.
GTB is a key growth business within TDS that provides the opportunity to make an impact with top tier organizations. We offer innovative solutions and treasury advisory services on large and complex liquidity, payments, and trade finance needs. The business constantly changes with macroeconomic conditions, unprecedented levels of innovation, interest rate environments, and foreign exchange movements. As a result, all GTB business lines continue to evolve to provide optimum trade finance, liquidity, and payment solutions to clients.
GTB is comprised of four business lines: Global Trade Finance (“GTF”), Corporate Cash Management (“CCM”), Financial Institutions (“FI”), and Export and Agency Finance (“EAF”).
Job Requirements
- Undergraduate degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Understands high level architecture and technology e.g., cloud, API’s, microservices, domain-driven design, data, and event modelling principles/techniques
- Strong knowledge and experience in using Waterfall and Agile product methodologies (i.e. User Journeys, User Stories, Backlog grooming, KPIs, etc.) and tools (i.e. Jira and Confluence) to implement large scale change
- Experience in implementing change in large Institutions via technology projects (business requirement documentation; Test case development & business validation; project delivery lifecycle)
- Possess comfort and enjoyment in fulfilling both strategic and tactical roles
- Excellent skills in partner management, analyze and solve complex problems, multi-task, and manage tight timelines
- Results oriented with ability to manage ambiguous or unclear situations
- Proactive, positive attitude, and desire to learn
- Strong leadership, persuasion, presentation, and communication skills
- Deep passion to create and lead meaningful change
Additional Experience Considered an Asset
- Previous Product Owner or Senor Business Analyst Experience
- Transaction Banking, financial technology, treasury, or payment industry experience with knowledge of payment systems, payment rules and processing flows. Understand the end-to-end flow of the client, bank and customer value chain.
- Demonstrable change credentials – prior direct experience contributing to large-scale change initiatives
- IIBA® Agile Analysis Certification (AAC) or other relevant Agile BA certification
- CSPO® Certified Scrum Product Owner or other relevant Product certification

TDS has embarked on a multi-year digital transformation and expansion of GTB’s product suite in order to position the transaction bank as a leading North American multi-currency treasury provider, enabling significant business growth across the TDS franchise. Accordingly, the need for a strong data foundation and communicating the data needs for clients and internal users has become critical.
Job Details
The Associate (Senior Business Analyst) is a member of the GTB Data Solutions & Analytics team and will report directly to the Vice President (Lead Product Manager). As a senior member of the team, the Associate will have opportunity to act as a product owner responsible for executing and influencing the data ecosystem strategy and delivery of key initiatives and priorities.
The GTB Data Solutions & Analytics team is part of the Product Transformation Team and is responsible for ensuring the expansion of GTB’s product suite is data-driven and delivers value from the data we create, collect, and consume.
As an Associate, you will:
- Understand client and internal needs to support development of new and existing data-driven products and features
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the GTB products and of client needs, competitive landscape, and trends in GTB industry to assist in identifying new opportunities
- Provide thought leadership and industry knowledge by participating in knowledge transfer among the team and partners
- Document business requirements/user stories to articulate the business needs
- Identify business needs and determining solutions to business problems by analyzing options/solutions which may include a technology component, but may also consist of process improvement, organizational change, or strategic planning and/or policy development
- Map business process flows for relevant data initiatives and creating high level and detail data flow diagrams
- Work collaboratively with Technology Partners, the Chief Data Office, Operations Partners, Control Partners, and Vendors.
- Understand data governance principles and how they apply to GTB data initiatives
- Keep others informed and up to date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities
- Document product materials, user guides, and training materials (for both clients and internal staff) as applicable
- Support developing and monitoring product OKR’s and KPI’s
- Be the ‘Voice of the Client’ by working with our clients (via the Product Solutions Team) to understand their needs and staying up to date on the latest changes in the industry
- Champion an intelligence culture that empowers the organization evaluate client needs, market trends, competitor movements, and determine TD’s actions & priorities
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
