Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager

A leading company is in search of an accomplished Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in primary and secondary district heating circuits. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering precise thermal and mechanical designs for primary and secondary heating circuits, with a focus on plate heat exchangers. This role requires adherence to company engineering standards, design codes, and customer specifications. The role has come available through continued growth and expansion.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Transform conceptual designs into detailed engineering packages for district heating networks and low carbon or renewable projects.
  • Oversee the entire process design, including documentation such as Process Flow Diagrams and Instrumentation Diagrams.
  • Manage design reviews, considering aspects like cost and safety, with a thorough documentation of changes.
  • Develop engineering specifications for equipment procurement.
  • Create installation specifications and work packages for competitive site installation quotations.
  • Resolve design issues efficiently to minimize impact on cost and schedule.
  • Collaborate with a CAD team and ensure compliance with safety and industry regulations.
  • Optimize designs to meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Manage relationships with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Prioritize and plan work commitments effectively.

The Ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrable experience in the energy industry, particularly in power generation, energy centres, and utilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Organizational skills and ability to motivate others.
  • Understanding of controls and instrumentation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant design codes.
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar subject.
  • Chartered Engineer Status desirable.
