JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Manages internal and external communications efforts for a school or division, and provides communications perspective on initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Produces executive communications and reports for divisional leadership.
  • Directs the development of marketing, promotional, and communications strategies and policies to build awareness of division/school initiatives and priorities, and to serve various communications needs.
  • Provides leadership on communications projects, ensuring that communications reflect divisional commitments, strategic priorities, and quality requirements.
  • May oversee the division/school’s website, as well as social media presence and activity.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of communication strategies across platforms and audiences.
  • Oversees relationships with vendors and Emory service providers.
  • May serve as spokesperson for the division/school, as appropriate.
  • May manage a budget and staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Oversees monthly and periodic electronic newsletter production, including a bi-annual report on research funding and highlights and other various outreach publications
  • Lead a council of staff who have communications responsibilities within the division to stay coordinated and to work on bigger strategic priorities.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, art or other related field.
  • Six years of experience in the development of marketing and informational materials, writing/research, project management and/or information technology.
  • Additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Knowledge of publishing and other related software.
  • Demonstrated creativity in the design of marketing, public relations or educational programs and communications materials.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.  Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
