Location: Vancouver Island, BC
Victoria Office is located at 330 – 1515 Douglas St, Victoria, BC.
Nanaimo Office is located at 105 – 238 Franklyn St., Nanaimo, BC.
Start Date: Immediately
Salary Range: $60,000 – 80,000
WHAT YOU WILL DO AT RJC:
- Work closely with RJC’s Indigenous Projects Team, helping to implement two-eyed seeing design and construction solutions
- Work closely with our Liaison, Indigenous Projects and Project Engineers within the project team environment, through the life cycle of a project from conceptual and preliminary stages of the design through to completion
- Collaborate with First Nations staff and representatives, architects, and other design consultants during design and construction of projects
- Participate in community engagement activities with First Nations and Indigenous organizations
- Engage in site investigation, evaluation of existing sites, preparation of reports and studies
- Participate in the development of drawings and specifications for projects involving new and existing sites with a focus site services, road infrastructure, site grading, and flood mitigation
- Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis, including basic project costing
- Assist with the preparation of CCDC construction contracts
- Conduct site reviews to ascertain that contractors are performing work in accordance with contract documents
Execute construction contract administration duties, including review of progress claims and the preparation of change notices, site instructions, certificates of payment
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO RJC:
Education:
- Degree or Technology Diploma in Civil Engineering/Technology
- Registered (or eligible for registration) as an Engineer-in-Training with EGBC or Applied Science Technologist/Certified Technician with ASTTBC.
Experience:
- 0 to 3 years previous experience in building civil engineering or related construction
- Experience in a consulting or construction firm environment, particularly with CCDC or MMCD documents and construction contracts, is an asset
- Experience working with First Nations and Indigenous organizations or businesses is an asset

- Demonstrated and effective communication skills – both written and verbal
- Demonstrated competency with AutoCAD Civil3D
- Ability to conceptualize in three dimensions
- Aptitude for working with existing facilities
