Job description
THIS VACANCY IS OPEN TO INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

You will be required to support and be a member of a number of University projects alongside senior colleagues and external and internal stakeholders.

Reporting to the HR – Promotion and Policy Manager, you are required to apply a detailed understanding of HR policies and particularly how they apply to the annual academic promotions round and to develop, implement and communicate university wide HR policies, processes and procedures supporting the university objectives associated with this process. In addition they will support the HR Promotions and Policy Manager in overseeing the academic promotions round.

You will work as a member of the Policy and Remuneration team so will participate and support may initiatives as part of the wider group.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract

This is a full-time post

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting the HR – Promotion and Policy Manager with the management of the annual academic promotions round.  
  • To lead on continuous improvement initiatives, and within an ED&I framework, where possible 
  • Support and participate in University projects and working groups alongside senior colleagues and internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Alongside colleagues supporting the University’s employee relations framework; attending meetings and participating in working groups etc. 
  • Establishing and developing strong relationships with other members of the HR function and key stakeholders. 
  • Regularly review existing HR policies and procedures with colleagues to evaluate their impact, relevance, and accessibility. 
  • To undertake Equality Impact Assessment on HR policies and be responsible to for retaining record of these assessments. 
  • To be responsible for the maintenance and production of data to support University and directorate objectives. 
  • To cross cover for colleagues in the Remuneration and Policy Team. 
  • To work alongside the Director of Reward and Recognition on specific work streams. 

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

Skills, knowledge, and experience 

Essential criteria  

  • Degree level education or equivalent / CIPD qualification or equivalent experience, and knowledge of current UK employment law and HR best practice. 
  • Experience of drafting HR policies or equivalent  
  • Proven experience of project management 
  • 5. Knowledge and commitment to the principles of equality and diversity 
  • Advanced IT skills 
  • Effective influencing and communication skills, including the ability to compose correspondence and document of a sensitive/complex nature clearly. 
  • Ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative information, produce reports accurately and to a high standard. 
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work. 
  •  Ability to devise, interpret and apply procedures and advise other on how to do so 
  • Experience of providing advice on complex HR and related issues.
