About the opportunity | The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Dalhousie University invites applications for a full-time, career-stream position as an Instructor in support of first year teaching beginning July 1, 2024. The successful applicant will teach ERTH 1080 Geology I, ERTH 1091 Geology II, manage the tutorials for ENVS 1100 Foundations of Environmental Science and ENVS 1200 Environmental Challenges, and support the Dalhousie Integrated Science Program by contributing to teaching and experiential learning activities associated with SCIE 1506 Integrated Science I, and other classes as assigned. In addition, the appointee will manage the assignment and administrative coordination of all teaching assistant and marker/demonstrator positions in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and assist in other department duties, including service as a member of committees, as assigned. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Earth Science, prior experience in teaching 1st-year Earth and Environmental Sciences courses, experience in coordination and supervision of meaningful inquiry-based student projects, and willingness to plan and supervise field trips for students.
