Job description
As a Researcher in AI and Data Optimization, you will be actively involved in a cutting-edge research project focused on applying distillation and other similar techniques in the realm of AI and MLOps. The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of model optimization, efficiency, and deployment in real-world scenarios offering Green-AI solutions.

The Person
We are looking for 1 individual with a PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, AI, or a related field and 2 individuals with a Masters or equivalent in Computer Science, AI, or a related field.
The successful candidates will have a strong background in AI, with expertise in model distillation and optimization techniques.
You will have Proficiency in Python and related AI tools and frameworks, with hands-on experience with MLOps practices and tools.
You will also have excellent academic writing skills demonstrated through publications in reputable conferences/journals and have the ability to work collaboratively in a team and lead research initiatives.
The Faculty
There are few faculties across the UK university landscape as varied in their scope as the Faculty of Engineering, Computing & the Environment (ECE). We teach and research across a wide range of subjects, allowing for real cross-discipline innovation and creativity.

There are 2 full time, fixed term positions (one for 12 months and one for 8 months) with a starting salary of £32,271 per annum.
There is also 1 part-time, fixed term position for 12 months, working 18.5 hours per week with a starting salary of £16,136 per annum (50% pro rata to £32,271 per annum).

Please also note that the part-time position is not eligible for sponsorship under a Skilled Worker visa. The full time positions may be eligible for sponsorship depending on the level of qualification and the current visa status of the successful candidate.
