Summary of Job Duties:
Position Summary
Consistently provides effective direct care, as part of the interdisciplinary team, to a variety of patients based on licensure, title and competencies. Seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice. Integrates theory and research into clinical practice. Provides leadership to members of the nursing team in order to maintain patient care standards. Promotion is based on years of experience, satisfactory performance appraisals and recommendation by manager.
Standard Duty Areas:
GUEST RELATIONS (25%)
Supports and demonstrates a guest service and patient rights commitment to internal and external customers through adherence to UAMS Guest Relation Service standards and processes. Takes proactive approach toward patients and family. Always respectful of others. Always uses appropriate communication, both verbal and written. Maintains privacy/confidentiality. Available and responsive to customers needs.
SAFETY AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS (10%)
Assist in maintaining a safe environment of care by actively participating in all hospital and department safety measure and reporting any hazardous or unsafe practices. Observes safe work practices and provides input on safety issues.
INSTITUTIONAL/PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS (5%)
Adheres to and maintains current knowledge of all Clinical Program policies and procedures. Adopts practices to improve work process, enhance guest satisfaction and reduce waste. Works effectively with team/work groups to fulfill UAMS mission and Department goals.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT, EBP, RESEARCH (5%)
Understands and communicates unit based Performance Improvement and participates as required. Identifies actual/potential quality concerns and communicates appropriately. Facilitates change processes and assists peers through change transition. Supports and mentors other team members.
PERFORMS ROLE OF REGISTERED NURSE (50%)
Delivers nursing care according to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA and Standards for specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members; collects and documents assessment data; develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard; Implements POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach; Evaluates the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes; Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning; Administers medication per standard including drug information to patients/families; Acts as a resource/supports others; Delivers patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality; Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and individual level of education and training; and Contributes to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH (5%)
Demonstrates commitment to Professional Nursing/Professional Development/Professional Growth. Participate in continuing education by completing the required staff development hours annually and in professional/institutional advancement of self and co-workers.

Qualifications:
