Summary of Job Duties:
The Director of Pharmacy – Oncology and Infusion Services works closely with the Chief Pharmacy Officer to support the goals and vision of the service line. The incumbent will be responsible for the planning, establishment, development and direction of oncology and infusion pharmacy services across the health system. They will provide direction for assigned areas of responsibility including the Cancer Institute Pharmacy on the main campus, the UAMS Cancer Center Pharmacy in North Little Rock, and clinical pharmacy services in the outpatient infusion centers. The Director will also be responsible for planning for new technology and automation, delegating responsibility, continuously improving services to meet customer and patient needs, and assuring adequate resources are available. They will ensure safe medication distribution, excellent customer service, optimal patient care, and compliance with all industry regulations and enforceable standards.
The director will provide oversight and direction for all personnel functions for their areas of assigned responsibility either directly or through pharmacy managers or supervisors. The Director supports ongoing training, education, and competency assessment of pharmacy staff, pharmacy residents and pharmacy students on rotation. The Director of Pharmacy will work closely with the Chief Pharmacy Officer on budgeting and finances as it pertains to their areas of responsibility. They will establish, monitor and revise workflows as needed to optimize productivity, ensure patient safety, and minimize waste. They serve as subject matter experts in the development, review, and implementation of departmental policies. They will participate in staff development, cost containment, and continuous quality improvement activities. The Director acts as a liaison between the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Service Line and the Cancer Service Line, as well as with other key leaders throughout the health system. The Director collaborates regularly with the pharmacy leadership team, including the Chief Pharmacy Officer, Directors of Pharmacy, managers and supervisors, in planning and executing the goals of the department. They will represent the department by serving on committees and attending meetings as assigned.

Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree or higher plus ten (10) years of progressively responsible related pharmacy experience to include at least three years in a supervisory capacity OR a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) plus six (6) years of related pharmacy experience.

Licensed registered pharmacist by the state of Arkansas, or eligible for licensure in Arkansas (licensure is contingent upon graduation from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy with a bachelor of science degree or higher).
