WHAT TO EXPECT

We are actively in pursuit of an accomplished Subject Matter Expert – SME, poised to play a pivotal role in advancing our Seating CAE realm.

This individual will be reporting to the CAE Chapter Lead and this position will focus on the development and continuous improvement of methods, tools and processes leveraging the expansion of the CAE capabilities, quality and efficiency of the Seating team.

Your mission? To assist the CAE and wider the Seating team with their virtual series deliverables as well as with issue resolution throughout the programme using the best FEA practices and techniques.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Conduct simulations and analysis for structural, thermal and fluid dynamics to support product development and validation as well as performance issue assessments
  • Develop and implement DOE’s, robustness and optimisation processes and methods
  • Develop and implement pre and post-processing scripts for automation of model set-up and results
  • Develop and implement best practices, standards and processes to improve the quality, robustness and efficiency of the simulation methods and tools
  • Provide technical expertise and support to the Seating CAE team
  • Create and maintain CAE work instructions, guidelines and test procedures to support virtual validation
  • Support the development, maintenance and assessment of the material cards and the material card databased used by the CAE Seating team
  • Develop, implement and manage a data and version control system for simulation files, results and reports
  • Conduct correlation studies in collaboration with the Physical Validation team
  • Mentoring and training new team members, graduates and apprentices

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

The role requires a strong technical background in structural engineering, FEA, mathematical models and computational mechanics as well as a broad knowledge of Crash and NVH for vehicle development.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential –

  • Strong theoretical background in structural analysis, solid mechanics as well and numerical and computational methods
  • Proven experience in conducting CAE simulations, DOE’s, robustness analysis and optimization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Experience in the use of Dummy models in LS-Dyna for Crash and Injury assessments
  • Knowledge in material testing and material characterization for LS-Dyna material cards
  • Expert understanding of implicit and explicit (static and dynamic) FEA
  • Hands-on experience with LS-Dyna and Opti struct solvers
  • Experience with model build troubleshooting and debugging
  • Hands-on experience with pre and post-processing tools like Oasys (Primer, D3Plot and T/HIS) and/or Altair HyperWorks
  • Scripting experience
  • Able to work autonomously across multiple projects
  • Excellent management of priorities and organizational skills
