What is the opportunity?

The Avion Rewards loyalty program is one of the largest proprietary loyalty programs in Canada. The program has expanded beyond card products to aid in deepening holistic client relationships and engagement. The ability for Avion points to function as a ubiquitous currency for Travel, Shopping and Financial Reward redemptions is paramount to maintaining an industry leading program. With this in mind, we are looking to hire an energetic, collaborative and strategic-minded individual for the position of Senior Director, Everyday Rewards. This role is focused on increasing client engagement, unlocking value for merchant partners and decreasing costs by leveraging our ubiquitous points currency. This will be delivered by driving growth and usage of our market-leading rewards currency across the platform, and accelerating currency ubiquity through the enhancement of our redemption framework. From a product perspective, this role will have accountability for defining the end state vision and roadmap for the Everyday Rewards product suite that includes Pay with Points, Points Exchange, Financial Rewards, Gift Cards and Merchandise. This role will also focus on delivering a suite of new solutions to optimize client engagement and financial performance while driving the climate strategy and goals for Avion Rewards.

What will you do?

Responsible for strategy, forecasting, product features & development, promotion, pricing and process enhancements for optimization

Ensure successful implementation of strategies designed to support Avion Rewards objectives are completed on time on budget and meet stakeholder expectations and contractual obligations

Relationship manager to internal/external strategic partners, align growth strategies with the partners and among all RBC stakeholders

Work across business lines to ensure all activities relating to the performance and management of the portfolio are operating in the most optimal way

Responsible for enabling team to deliver product planning, business cases, setting growth objectives and managing key revenue & cost drivers

Responsible for overall positioning and branding of Avion Rewards digital currency as well as the management of the go-to-market strategy

Monitor competitive landscape and identify consumer needs and business opportunities; understand competitor offerings and threats; and develop strategic recommendations

Continuously monitor performance and communicate results via monthly and quarterly reports and insights to assess performance

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

Strategic business sense with planning and implementation capabilities, strategic thinking and negotiation skills

Demonstrated ability to lead change

Previous experience with partner / vendor relationship management & negotiations

Understanding of key loyalty business drivers with strong financial analysis skills

Excellent critical thinking skills with ability to resolve issues through innovative solutions

Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills to build and maintain effective working relationships and elicit cooperation from internal partners

Excellent communication skills (listening, understanding and responding)

Strong client focus/orientation

Attention to detail

Undergraduate degree (MBA Preferred)

Nice to have:

Demonstrated experience within the loyalty industry

Loyalty or credit card financial and analytical skills
