Exciting new career opportunity to join the CAE & Data team of a market leading, global automotive company and work on new technologies in the field of electrification and powertrain performance. As a Powertrain Modelling and Simulation Engineer you will be focused on cell modelling and battery simulation. This challenging role requires a degree qualified, highly motivated engineer with pro-active attitude, excellent problem-solving skills and solid technical engineering background. Our clients engineers are typically exposed to multiple different projects during their career, this role is therefore particularly suited to people who will enjoy the opportunity to gain experience in new areas and who can rapidly self-start, combining creative and analytical problem-solving skills. Your responsibilities as Battery Modeling & Simulation Engineer will include: — Support system analysis projects, across internal and customer opportunities covering a range of battery and powertrain concepts — Perform data processing and analysis, with reporting to internal and customer teams and management — Develop battery and powertrain models and perform thermal/electrical simulation activities — Carry out analysis using 1-D and 3-D modelling techniques as applicable — Present results and recommendation of analysis to stakeholders YOUR PROFILE: Essential: — Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant engineering area (Mechanical, Automotive, Electric/Electronics) — Understanding of automotive electrification performance and fundamentals for future and emerging powertrain technologies — Experience in battery and/or powertrain modelling and simulation, model correlation & validation against test data — Experience in MATLAB / Simulink / Simscape — Excellent analytical skills with ability to make clear technical recommendations across multifunctional disciplines — Self-starter with the ability work with high level instruction — Ability to communicate technical information effectively — Flexibility to work across multiple projects/locations — Open minded, flexible can do attitude Preferable: — Experienced in powertrain simulation techniques and tools (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, Python, AVL CRUISE™ M, GT-power) across virtual development, verification, and validation — 3D modelling techniques for EV battery thermal analysis (e.g. AVL FIRE, ANSYS FLUENT, STAR-CCM+) — Controls and calibration development using software or hardware in the loop In return for your expertise: — Attractive annual salary dependent on experience — Relocation assistance — Flexi-time and hybrid working — PMI + cashplan — Life assurance (3x annual salary) — Professional memberships (e.g. IMechE) — Internal and external training — Bike to work scheme Tiro is a specialist Employment Agency and Employment Business assisting with both contract and permanent opportunities in the global automotive, aerospace, electronics & manufacturing sectors.
