The Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology has a vacancy for a scientific assistant with PhD/Phd (Post-Doc) starting 15.02.2024. The position is limited to 1 year. In this context, a project within the fields of physiology and biophysics will be conducted. This primarily includes electrophysiological measurements by patch clamp approach, to obtain preliminary data.
We offer a responsible, varied and independent field of activity in a motivated team, which can be shaped by own ideas and commitment. The current position includes a teaching commitment of 4 semester hours per week within the education at the medical faculty of JKU.
Job Duties:
- Independent conduction of a research project, including planning, methodological implementation, analysis and interpretation of experimental approaches
- Teaching responsibilities including conduction of practical lab courses, exams and lectures at the Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology – Department of Physiology
- Participation in infrastructural and organizational tasks
- Supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses
Your Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must hold completed Doctoral/Ph.D. studies in the natural sciences, medicine or related subjects
- High motivation in the field of research and in building up an independent research profile
- Methodological experience and independent work with electrophysiology in all aspects of patch clamp measurements
- Substantial publication performance and experience with scientific presentations. Previous experience with third-party funding applications is an advantage
- Independent, well-structured work style with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a team and enjoy working in an international team
- Good English (level B2) / German (level B2) skills, both written and spoken
