As a Marketing Intern, the student will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various areas of marketing, including audience segmentation, market research, developing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, online and social media outreach, and video production/editing. The student will work alongside the Programme Leader to promote the world’s first MA in Place Branding – a ground breaking new programme offered online at Middlesex University.

Duties and responsibilities

**Responsibilities:**

– Create a market research database towards the development of a CRM system. Identifying potential professional contacts and target audiences and contact channels in the following organisations/sectors:

– UNESCO

– UNDP (United Nations Development Programme)

– UN-Habitat

– Sustainable Cities initiative at the World Bank

– c40 Cities Network

– Universities with Urban Planning, Architecture, Marketing, Tourism, and Public Administration Degrees

– UK Local Town Councils – Departments of Economic Development, Tourism, Arts/Culture

– Destination Marketing Organisations (UK and Europe)

– Post-Graduate Websites (UCAS, FindaMasters)

– Other segments as identified

– Conduct research on industry conferences, podcasts, media outlets and events to identify profile building opportunities for the MA Place Branding (fields of marketing, tourism, economic development urbanism).

– Assist in creating and managing LinkedIn campaigns to increase brand visibility and attract potential students.

– Assist in creating and executing engaging video content for social media platforms, including editing and enhancing raw video footage to create a short promotional video and other short compelling and impactful social media videos.

**Timing:**

Week 1 (6 hours)

– Creation of CRM database with fields and categories

– Research and populating database – UK DMOs, Local Councils

Week 2 (8 hours)

– International research – UN bodies, c40 Cities, DMOs

– HE websites and channels

Week 3 (6 hours)

– Industry conferences, events, media outlets and podcasts

– LinkedIn Groups and paid campaign opportunities

Week 4 (5 hours)

– Video content – creation of digital asset management system

– Video planning – storyboarding, B-roll, key messages and content strategy

Week 5 (10 hours)

– Video shooting (interview with Programme Director)

Week 6 (10 hours)

– Video Editing

Week 7 (6 hours)

– Video Post-Production

Week 8 (5 hours)

– Social media outreach, execute advertising campaign, implement CRM and correspondence to target audiences

Skills and experience

**Qualifications:**

  • – Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Advertising, PR and Branding, Digital Media and related fields – or with an interest in marketing and/or video production
  • – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • – Excellent research and organisational skills.
  • – Proficiency in Notion and video management/editing software.
  • – Experience with social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn, is a plus.
  • – Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
