As a Manager, Regulatory Initiatives, you will contribute to the overall success of the Global Wealth Management business ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. The incumbent will ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

This is a 14 month term position.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Manage the delivery of Scotiabank’s Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF), ensuring the execution of the ORMF and underlying policies and methodologies are adhered to by liaising with GWM business lines accordingly
  • Lead with the Senior Manager work streams with various operational risk management tools (e.g., New Initiative Risk Assessments, Operational Risk Events, Key Risk Indicators, Risk and Control Self-Assessments and Scenario Analysis), including identifying, documenting, and monitoring new initiatives, processes, procedures, risks, and controls
  • Conduct Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) with internal stakeholders to help them identify risks and related internal controls, as well as any gaps that may impact the achievement of defined business objectives
  • Provide a periodic (e.g., monthly, quarterly) update on operational risk management programs to Senior Management and assist the team with Committee and Board reporting
  • Manage Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) activities for the GWM business line
  • Manage the execution of Scotiabank’s Third-Party Risk Management Policy for GWM businesses to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor outsourcing risks, including providing TPRM systems support, inherent risk identification and due diligence support, while providing key oversight functions and program assurance
  • Lead other projects and activities as required

The Must Haves:

  • Undergraduate degree with 5+ years of relevant wealth management and/or banking experience
  • Prior experience in operational risk, compliance, regulatory reform initiatives, internal audit, third party risk management is an asset
  • Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of Global Wealth Management business units and support functions crossing all delivery channels preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory bodies including OSFI, OSC, IIROC, and MFDA
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio and Power BI
