Job description

:

Data Systems Design and management

  • Lead the data entry and aggregation efforts for Climate Promise datasets, drawing from a range of sources (country workplans and reports, thematic trackers, and international climate sources, UNDP surveys, etc.), as well as quality control and assurance tasks, as needed;
  • Maintain Climate Promise Excel datasets and Power BI dashboards, while striving to identify ways to expand, improve and strengthen, and support technical staff to update thematic trackers (e.g. adaptation, gender) in a manner consistent with other reporting efforts;
  • Identify key trends, define critical questions/queries, and design structured analysis based on raw datasets and complex databases, generating visuals and charts for progress reports, knowledge products, and other communications and advocacy materials.
  • Prepare quick turnaround data analytics on a n ad-hoc basis, for inclusion into time-sensitive products, such as briefing notes for UNDP leadership
  • Provide technical inputs related to data management and analysis into relevant UNDP corporate initiatives and partnerships

Results-based reporting:

  • Create and tailor progress report forms for Climate Promise countries according to donor and workplan requirements on a quarterly basis;
  • Aggregate reported results, validate, and link/filter results according to needs of different databases and dashboards;
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual progress reporting efforts through analysis of data and review of reported results.

Knowledge sharing and learning development:

  • Train UNDP staff on how to access and use Climate Promise datasets and support efforts of technical staff to present and visualize data for knowledge products, social media, and UNDP platforms (e.g. Data Futures).
  • Contribute to external presentations with key donors, partners on relevant data analysis and dashboards
  • The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Project Management, Environmental Sciences, International Development, or other related field OR
  • A first university degree (Bachelor´s degree) in mentioned above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years (with a master’s degree) or seven years (with a bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible work experience in information management and data analysis. Extensive experience in project/programme oversight, management and/or coordination at international level (required)
  • Experience aggregating and analysing complex datasets; (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to generate data-driven products (e.g. graphs, charts, infographics) from complex datasets; (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge using tools such as Power BI, SPSS, Ms Excel, Flourish, and Flow to analyse and present complex datasets in visually compelling ways (i.e., graphs, charts, infographics); (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience in database management systems (e.g. SQL Server, MS Access) and Sharepoint. (Required)
  • Knowledge of Adobe design tools is an asset (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator); (desired)
  • Knowledge of digital survey tools is an asset (e.g., MS form, SurveyMonkey, KOBO, etc.) (desired)
  • Knowledge on UN and/or experience working with the UN, with familiarity with the mandate and operations of UNDP; (desired)
  • Demonstrated ability to work across different teams and organisations, and build partnerships to leverage impact. (desired)

Language:

  • Fluency in oral and written English (required)
  • Competency in another UN official language (desired)
