They are near-shoring from their New York office and moving their operations to Montreal which is exciting news! This a chance to join a very stable environment as these roles already existed in New York before the move. They have a number of positions to fill and are hoping many will be excited to be a part of their new start in Montreal.

Title: CBTS Domain Lead
Location: Montreal
Work model: Hybrid, 2-3 days remote work allowed

Job Summary: The domain lead will be based in Montreal with both local (Montreal) and functional (New York) reporting lines. The primary responsibility will entail the support of business applications and users based in the US, Brazil and Canada. The domain lead will supervise the BAU activities and projects in the Core Finance, Payments, Risk and Compliance functional areas among others.

Functional reporting to: Head of CBTS IT, NY
The CBTS domain leverages technical expertise and business knowledge to support a myriad of business applications across the Americas in the US, Brazil and Canada branches.
It includes applications covered by two CACIB Head office IT business lines

  • CSI – Corporate & Support Functions IT: Finance, Risk, Referentials, Compliance, Transverse applications and Corporate systems (HR, Administration, IT for IT …)
  • CBI – Corporate Banking IT: Commercial Banking (Front, Middle & Back Office), Payments, Client accounts and Client on boarding

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign personnel/services to the various projects, direct their activities and ensure adequate project reporting.
  • Coordination with teams on-shore/off-shore, third parties or Head Office for major projects.
  • Provide input to general architecture – including hardware, software, infrastructure, etc.
  • Consult with and advise other departments on systems and procedures.
  • Develop good relations with the business stakeholders supported by CBTS, demonstrating a strong knowledge of the financial systems and business processes in scope.
  • Actively work on continuously improving the environment and bring efficiencies to either improve quality, time to deliver or reduce cost.
  • Ensure integrity of all systems – including out of hours support (24/7), where required.
  • Supervise installation of accepted proposals and integrate the new services into existing systems in conjunction with the department managers and personnel affected; explain the new systems and interpret computer output.
  • Ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner and as per procedures defined / standards when applicable.
  • Direct research on internally developed systems or third-party customized systems.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, systems design and make recommendations on the appropriate action to be taken.
  • Ensure the following processes are in place and effectively and efficiently executed:

o Change management
o Incident management
o Problem management
o Knowledge management
o Demand management
o Obsolescence management
o Operational Controls (Including COSMOS)

Management and leadership capability:

  • Lead and manage teams, providing guidance, support and direction during critical times
  • Develop teams and processes for continuous improvements
  • Report to local leadership in Montreal and functionally to the CBTS Head based in New York
  • Exercise the duties of a manager with respect to supervision of all personnel within the team including staffing, training and development, performance appraisals
  • Liaise with the business (Finance, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and commercial business lines) to understand and support their requirements
  • Evaluate current procedures and processes for accomplishing department objectives and continuously design and implement improved practices.
  • Ensure accuracy and expediency of any activity related to audits under the direction of the CBTS Lead in NY

Technical aptitude

  • Ability to provide input to general architecture – including hardware, network, tools, software, etc.
  • Help critique, develop and direct technology solutions
  • Assist in the gathering of business requirements and define specifications
  • Propose and approve solution designs
  • Assist with development teams to ensure proper implementation of requirements in the information system
  • Be familiar with technology tools to confirm data quality and investigate questions
  • Ensure the respect of policies and procedures of the Bank, as well as regulatory requirements
  • Support and assist in the functional testing on major projects or complex changes

Project Management capabilities:

  • Engage and support project management activities which includes, approving change management activities (including roles and responsibilities, creation of service level agreements, reviewing current processes, and defining target processes for the organization
  • Oversee project scoping, planning and monitoring; managing risks, on the different IT activities involved in the IT projects; and ensuring organization of training as well as User Acceptance Testing
  • Ensure adherence to the System Project Life Cycle (SPLC) across all IT practices
  • Ensures that production of key deliverables defined by the SPLC
  • Support as required CBTS NY IT Head/Lead in facilitating project and steering committees
  • Ensure that all system implementations meet US regulatory standards and are done in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures
  • Ensure successful execution of projects under the domain, including review, remediation, risk mitigation for delivery on time, with quality and within budget
  • Ensure the respect of development procedures as per the internal system project life cycle procedures
  • Oversees proper execution of BCP activities for the domain in scope when necessary

Operational Management:
Oversight of the operations for the domain:

  • Ensure support teams meet deliverables for BAU and Change
  • Guide and assist team leads technically and managerially, including monitoring of the capacity of the team
  • Approve Change Requests and review incident; ensure adequacy of the action plan. For recurring incidents, ensure problem management is applied
  • Ensure that the operations meet US regulatory standards and are done in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures
  • Establishes and reviews Key Performance Indicators/Service Level Requirements defined to monitor the quality of service
  • Identify and elevate issues impacting the achievement of service delivery objectives and continually improve services
  • Intervenes and/or escalates performance issues as appropriate to the management
