The opportunity
The Wires Specialist is a critical part of the first line of defense in analyzing submissions to ensure wires meet AML regulatory requirements and accurately processed as part of providing high quality services to CWB Group and Branch network. Wires are a high-risk payment and can be very high value, (e.g., over $100MM). The Wires Analyst is the first point in control in ensuring that what is sent for release is first-time right.
We are looking for someone who can Exercise critical thinking in analyzing wire requests submitted by branches to ensure they are accurate for posting and meet AML requirements. Someone who can adapt to large volumes and is able to perform under pressure to get wires out by cut-off times with precision. The position requires flexibility and strong initiative taking as well as high degree of attention to detail in all activities. What you’ll be doing
- Act as a first line of defense on wires by ensuring that wires assessed and entered first-time right and will provide accurate, straight-through processing. Complete all assigned tasks accurately and efficiently to ensure there is no negative impact that could result in losses for clients or the Bank.
- Regularly review SLA targets in collaboration with individual leader to ensure client needs are met. Complete assigned tasks within the established SLA targets.
- Minimize risk to CWB Group through compliance with policies and regulatory requirements in all areas of banking and operations, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, and raising exceptions as required. You will assist leaders in identifying and bring up issues related to policy, procedures, or specific branch or client situations.
- You will complete the maintenance of long-term document control and electronic reporting for all applicable tasks. Ensure that the confidentiality of the Bank and its customers in maintained by routinely securing all documentation during non-business hours and are aware of and adheres to employee code of conduct.
- Assist leaders in identifying gaps in standard operating procedures, provide recommendations for improvements and assist with documentation to drive consistent and predictable daily outcomes, and strong data integrity.
- Actively participate as a subject matter specialist and contributor in projects and initiatives within area of expertise, meeting time frames as established/assigned by leadership. Provide direct support to the CWB branch network, to enable them to deliver a “best in class” customer experience.
- Participate in the build out and maintenance of the Wires Center of Excellence with responsibility for supporting policies and procedures with relation to Wires.
- Exercise a high degree of ownership and accountability for inputs and results
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills that contribute to working optimally in a diverse working environment
- Make decisions guided by common sense and sound business judgement
- Assist leaders with cross training and provide coverage during team member’ absence
Successful incumbent
- The successful candidate will have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, who takes pride in the attention to detail, and a common sense approach to problem solving. You have excellent organizational skills and have the ability to prioritize that helps you meet set timelines. You are able to demonstrate strong social and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- They will have the ability to see operational gaps and be able to strategize and articulate actions to close any gaps. They will work effectively with management, co-workers, and clients to enhance professionalism and productivity. They demonstrate a sense of importance when dealing with high-risk client documents and a high level of confidentiality.
- An inquisitive mind to improve efficiency and process will be an asset in this role. Intermediate to sophisticated skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Teams are a must. Having a customer focused mind set with a strong proven understanding of banking policies and procedures will aid your success in this position.
- An aptitude with technology, with an ability to quickly learn new technology and tools will make your transition into this role smoother. Having a strong work ethic, positive outlook and being able to work in a team environment that requires minimal direct supervision are a must.
Education
- Business Administration Diploma or higher-level post secondary education required (if less than 5 years experience).
Professional Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of banking background, preferably in operations within banking and centralized or support centre
- Experience in roles that involve high-value, high-risk payments as well as internal Bank operations/administration processes and policy.
