Summary

This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). As a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Leader you will serve as a leader over the Maintenance Services staff by setting the pace and performing the work identical with or of the same type and grade level as performed by those led, and in addition, provides direction over their work in Heating, Cooling and Boiler Systems, Plumbing, Electrical, Painting, Carpentry, Locksmith, and general Maintenance.

Duties

As a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Leader WL-4742-10, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Serves on a continuing basis as a lead for personnel engaged in utility system repair services, plumbing services, electrical, locksmith, painting and general maintenance to the offices, academic and shop buildings, classrooms, student union, gymnasiums and the auditorium.
  • Performs trouble shooting with various types of meters of instruments on electrical equipment, boilers, furnace, kitchen equipment, well controls, pumps/motors, electrical controls, lighting and electrical systems.
  • Performs a wide variety of journeyman level painting and coating materials application.
  • Performs a wide variety of journeyman level carpentry work constructing, altering, maintaining and repairing buildings and structures.
  • Performs locksmith duties at the journeyman level to overhaul and repair of all types of padlocks, rim locks, door closers and panic hardware in or on buildings or structures.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs on the plumbing system, such as repair of replacement of defective pipes of the water supply and sewer systems; pumps and pipe of the hot water boiler system, etc.
  • Provides a variety of services of a general nature in preventative maintenance, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, emergencies, general repairs and service calls.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: WL-4742-10 Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Leader

Experience: There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position.

(Screen-Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Leader involves leading three or more workers in performing comprehensive maintenance and repair on all campus buildings to include heating and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigerators and freezer units, plumbing and electrical systems, carpentry, locksmith, and painting. This is a screen-out element. Failure to meet a minimum level of experience will result in an ineligible rating.

In addition to meeting the Minimum Requirement, you must meet the requirement below.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: If you do not possess the required certification specified below, you will be rated ineligible. You MUST provide a copy of the certification at the time of applying for this position.

This position does not have a positive education requirement at this grade level. Therefore, no transcripts are required.
