Job description
With over 1,800 students and 75 academic staff, the Department of Finance and Economics is an ambitious, large, and diverse Department within the Faculty of Business and Law. We deliver a wide range of courses covering undergraduate, postgraduate and commercial programmes. We also contribute to the university’s portfolio of cutting edge research in areas of Applied Economics, Corporate Governance and Sustainable Finance.
We are currently recruiting excellent educators to our Banking and Finance team. This innovative team currently deliver mainly on our BSc (Hons) Banking and Finance programme and our MSc Finance programme. They have developed innovative curriculum that include authentic assessment, work integrated learning opportunities and strong connections to employers and professional bodies. We are looking to expand this team and seeking to recruit individuals who can contribute to our agenda of delivering excellent education.
Graduates from these programmes will often seek out roles in Financial Planning, Pensions and Insurance, Risk Management and Commercial and Investment Banking. As such, we are interested in applications from those educators who have specialisms in these areas, particularly by drawing on practice. Our students value working with academics who can interweave examples from their own professional experience into their teaching. As a senior lecturer in the Banking and Finance team, you will lead units, mentor early career academics, and be responsible for leading against specific education priorities.
About you
So, successful candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:
- Practical experience in this subject area, potentially supported by a relevant professional qualification
- Innovative and Inclusive teaching practices
- Evidence of leadership experience, either in Higher Education or a professional role.
