The Systems Engineering Professional will work closely with Product Management and PMO on the Marketing configurator, BIM model and pricing of the product. They will also work closely with Operations on the manufacturing or purchasing aspects of the product. Externally, strong relationships with both business development team and Sales team will be important. The candidate will also provide technical support on product configuration to our customers (Channel Partners / Distributors) and Construction Sales Engineers. Candidate should be able to work independently, be proactive in reaching out to customers/business developers for feedback on ease of use of the configuration tool and take leadership role in working with software application development teams in implementing enhancements.

Our Electrical Products business unit has specialized Configure, Price & Quote (CPQ) platforms as a go-to market strategy. The Product Selector is a rules-based configuration tool with an intuitive user-interface built over SAP Variant Configuration. Our CPQ platforms enable sales and channel team to quickly generate accurate quotes and price for simple and complex power distribution products, thereby enhancing operational efficiencies by eliminating quote and order errors.

You will make impact with the following responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain product configuration models (Knowledge Base) that optimizes alignment between product options, sales & manufacturing bills of material (BOM) and routing, while meeting the expected performance of end users (Sales Engineers and Channel Partners).
  • Analyze, coordinate, and manage disparate requirements from Sales / Channel Users (intuitive User Interface flow during product selection), Engineering (ensuring valid selection combinations), Marketing (pricing, product literatures), PMO (MEP design & construction workflow) and Operations (Manufacturing BOM & routing). Manage implementation of such progressive level of details that meets the expectations of the construction market.
  • Collaborate with a cross functional team from Product Development, Product Management, Order Engineering, Manufacturing and Accounting in implementing KB enhancements to support PLM projects (new product introductions or obsolescence).
  • Manage and communicate KB and BIM release plans in alignment with department and business unit objectives.
  • Ensure efficient trouble shooting and timely problem resolution with minimal interruptions to business transactions.
  • Complete evaluation and monitor configurator enhancements throughout all stages of Quality Cycle (proposal, definition, build, validation, roll-out and support). Ensure and enforce Engineering Change and Version Control for Knowledge Bases.
  • Take lead in aligning with other development teams for efficient integration of Knowledge Bases with respective applications like COMPAS and REVIT.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any STEM discipline essential (Industrial, Mech. Or Elec. Eng preferred). Experience in related field will be considered as an alternative.
  • 1 – 4 years’ work experience in any discrete manufacturing industry.
  • Basic understanding of power distribution portfolio in residential and commercial construction market using electrical standards of UL and NEMA.
  • Basic understanding of commercial construction or discrete engineering and manufacturing processes including bills of material and assembly routing.
  • Design thinking, strong data analytical and problem-solving skills in identifying patterns and trends, and proficient with Microsoft Suites.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to support internal and external contacts within a multi-cultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of MEP design, construction, and usage of BIM tools in the industry.
  • Experience in a Make-to-order manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with any programming language (e.g., VB, Java preferred)
  • Proficient with CAD applications (REVIT, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro-E).
  • SAP Variant Configuration experience.
  • Must be a self-starter and strong team player able to work in a cross functional team environment.
  • Ability and desire to learn assigned business segment product line. May need to take internal product training classes.
  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) with waterfall and agile methodology.

  • The pay range for this position is $65,500 – $112,400. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
