In the role of Strategy Manager, you will act as a key player in the Banking & Financial Services sector, where you will be responsible for leading strategic initiatives and managing high-value projects.

Reporting directly to the Strategy Director, the Strategy Manager is responsible for supporting the Corporate Strategy team (total of 3) on key strategic projects on the Executive Committee and Board agendas. They support the team on regular reporting activity, including monitoring of our Primary Corporate Objectives, key strategic indicators, and delivery against our strategic plan.The Strategy Manager is responsible for specific components of a strategic project, such as answering questions like “How should the bank grow its market share in [x] business by [x]% over the next [x] years?” – this would involve understanding customer needs, competitive benchmarking, financial analysis, and scenario modelling. You would then utilise the findings of your research and analysis to creatively construct well-thought-out ideas and data backed solutions that address the opportunity/challenge and communicating the idea to key stakeholders through the most appropriate format.Responsibilities:

– development of monthly Board and Exco MI

– production of the above in a timely and accurate basis

– problem identification and analysis on behalf of CEO / Strategy Director

– development of papers on above for Board / Exco as appropriate

– development of papers for Board Strategy Awayday and other Group/Board Strategy meetings

– development of insights and papers for Exco quarterly Awayday

– in pursuance of all the above, working closely with Exco members and their teams

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, including through PowerPoint and written documents.
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organisation.
  • The ability to develop hypotheses based on available facts and observations.
  • The ability to identify and collect further observations, data and facts that are relevant to testing the hypothesis.
  • The ability to interrogate the data to create new insights that lead to new/refined hypotheses.
  • The ability to use logical reasoning to identify and explain the solution. A successful Strategy Manager should have:
  • A degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and project management within the financial services sector.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Familiarity with the banking industry and its regulations.
  • strong academic background
