Horizon Health Network (Horizon) is seeking an articulate, logical, perceptive, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Regional Manager, Privacy Compliance, Incidents and Complaints. Who you are

You have worked for a minimum 5 years in the New Brunswick healthcare system with 4 years working directly with privacy legislation, including experience understanding, analyzing, and interpreting privacy legislation. You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications as well as an excellent working knowledge of Health Information Systems. You have demonstrated analytical, problem solving, facilitation and mediation skills.

Educations Requirements:

  • University degree in Health Information Management, Public Administration Law, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, Clinical Healthcare, or a related field.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional, Certified International Access and Privacy Professional designation or Information and Access and Privacy Protection Certificate or a similar certification/training.

Written and spoken competence in English is required at an advanced level.

What you will do

  • Management of all privacy incidents and complaints documented in iReport, privacy breach investigation and follow up.
  • Conduct in depth investigations to determine whether accesses are inappropriate, or work related, and conduct interviews with employees, managers and others as required in accordance with policies.
  • Provide consultation and recommendations on complex privacy questions and issues, and triage consultation requests as well as complaints and suspected breaches which must be escalated to the Chief Privacy Officer.
  • Draft Privacy Breach Evaluation Reports for the Chief Privacy Officer, managers, and executive leaders. Document privacy incidents and follow-ups undertaken, in accordance with established Privacy Service processes and procedures. Prepare reports for the Office of Ombud and notify impacted individuals that their privacy has been breached.
  • Provide expertise, leadership, and advice on managing matters related to protection of personal information and personal health information and acting as a resource person for staff, managers, and teams to support/guide them in their activities related to protection of personal information.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy policies, acts and regulations and maintain strong privacy protection, and engage in consultations, make recommendations and support Privacy Service Operations
