Your Opportunity:As a member of the Neurosciences Team, the Undergraduate Nurse (UNE) provides safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. Working Collaboratively with the Registered nurses, the Undergraduate Nurse observes, monitors, reports and documents changes in the patient’s physical, mental, and emotional state, assists the patients with activities of daily living and provides the patients and family with relevant information and teaching. The successful candidate will work as part of the multidisciplinary team collaborating for positive patient outcomes and providing quality care.Description:An Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) position provides an opportunity for a UNE to develop further competency in the range and complexity of Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) practice. The nursing activities performed and level of supervision required is determined by legislation, standards of supervision outlined by professional associations, AHS and competency of the UNE. You will be guided by your education, experience and demonstrated skill level to play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Current enrolment in an approved Alberta nursing education program leading to initial entry to practice as a registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse. Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR) certificate. Successful completion of 3rd year of an RN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RN education program; or currently in the final year of an after-degree RN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RN education program; or successful completion of 2nd year of an RPN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RPN education program. Additional Required Qualifications:The candidate must have the physical capability of the role, including the ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs. The candidate requires critical thinking skills, demonstrated by the ability to problem solve and escalate clinical concerns in a timely and appropriate manner. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, and one must be committed to patient and family-centered care. Demonstrates ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with patients, families, and team members.
