We’re currently hiring for:Corporate AccountantOur Corporate Accounting Team in Vancouver, BC is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Corporate Accountant to join us as an integral member of the team. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, take initiative, be open to new challenges, have excellent communication skills, and want to develop an accounting career.As a member of the Corporate Accounting Team, you will develop an understanding of our operations and policies and become a subject matter expert (“SME”) in a specific area of our business. As a SME, you will become the go-to person for financial information in that area, including training other accountants and preparing reports for senior finance team members. We believe in continuous employee development and will rotate you through various SME areas once you master a SME. The result is a well-rounded professional experience that is promotable to other roles within finance. You will also be the lead for undertaking projects and process improvements within your SME and strive for continuous improvement and streamlining of existing processes. This posting is the corporate accounting SME for cash, debt and equity.What You’ll Do:
- Preparation and processing of month-end journal entries and general ledger reconciliations,
- under SOX guidelines.
- Responsible for all corporate bank reconciliations, central deposit register and maintenance of
- centralized banking grid.
- Be the corporate accounting liaison for the Treasury Department.
- Responsible for accounting of our publicly listed entity.
- Understand & maintain loans & facilities spreadsheet and inter-company advances.
- Responsible for recording dividends and other share transactions.
- Keeper of all interest accruals and financing costs, equity and loan accounts on corporate
- balance sheets.
- Responsible for the timely clearing of all wires and bank transactions.
- Maintain impeccable attention to detail and organized documentation of working papers to
- support financial reports.
- Completing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and reporting on income statement
- Opportunity to mentor and supervise team members with less experience, e.g. a co-op student.
- Be a key driver for streamlining and automating bank upkeep and reconciliation processes.
- Being a key resource concerning adherence to accounting policies and SOX standards and
- Ad-hoc projects as assigned.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Accounting Diploma or relevant work experience.
- Prior experience working as an accountant is required.
- Prior experience working with Oracle EBS will be considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team player and ability to work independently.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills, ability to manage pressure and meet deadlines.
