The ability to teach Psychology and/or Health and Social Care will be an advantage.The successful candidate will join a well-resourced and vibrant Social Science Department which is housed in its own teaching block with excellent facilities. This is a great opportunity to develop teaching skills within a friendly, well qualified and organised department which achieves excellent results. Social Sciences subjects have a large uptake at both GCSE and A Level. This post is suitable for an experienced Teacher or NQT.Highams Park is a very successful co-educational 11-18 academy with 1600 students on roll including nearly 350 in the 6th Form. Staff are encouraged to share ideas regularly and there is a supportive atmosphere between members of the department. The department has its own classrooms, all of which are well equipped, and each room has an interactive whiteboard. Staff are encouraged to use these resources effectively and imaginatively. There is frequent support provided through training and the sharing of good practice.Sociology A Level follows the AQA specification, GCSE Sociology follows the Eduqas specification, A Level Psychology the AQA specification, and Health and Social Care Level 2 and 3 the Edexel BTEC specifications.Sociology is an established and popular subject that has gained top quality results in the past few years.
