Respiratory Therapist RegisteredPerforms assessment of patient respiratory status, provides respiratory treatments, evaluates patient’s response to effectiveness of care delivered, provides patient education regarding respiratory treatments, health and wellness.SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Reads, writes legibly, converses effectively in the English language
  • Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and software programs applicable to the position, e.g. electronic documentation programs
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES

  • High school graduate, or equivalent (copy of academic degree or transcript will be required upon hire if performing Moderate Complexity Testing)
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) card or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 6 month grace period
  • American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurses’ Association Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) card or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 1 year grace period
  • American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider card or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 1 year grace period
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of Oregon and Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

EXPERIENCE

  • One or more years experience as a respiratory therapist in an acute hospital setting preferred

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
  • Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
  • Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
  • Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
  • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
  • May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
  • Requires significant use of personal computer, phone and general office equipment
