As a Principal Risk Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary, bringing additional risk management leadership to major submarines programmes.Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for process and applications of risk (threat & opportunity) management across business winning and project delivery phases across multiple programmes, including driving the maturity and professionalism of the discipline along with maintaining control of resource demand and supply.

  • Develop and implement the Project Risk Management plan across submarine programmes
  • Develop and implement Risk Management policies, procedures and process in line with the Risk Discipline Lead.
  • Establish and implement risk management governance within the project
  • Act as the Risk Management Subject Matter Expert on projects in the submarine business area
  • Manage the risk outputs assurance process, including data, analysis and reporting

This role is full time 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 – 3 days in the office/onsite.Essential experience of the Principal Risk Specialist:

  • Extensive relevant experience in a similar environment / business sector
  • Experience of designing and implementing risk management methodologies, processes, systems and tools
  • Advanced risk and opportunity management techniques
  • Full project lifecycle experience working on complex and major projects
  • Experienced in various contracting methodologies (e.g. FIDIC/NEC/JCT)
  • Experience leading teams of risk professionals in a matrix organisation

Qualifications for the Principal Risk Specialist:

  • Ideally a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Project Management or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Project Planning and Controls Foundation – Desirable
  • Project Fundamentals qualification – Desirable
  • Management of Risk Practitioner or APM Risk L2 – Desirable
