  • Providing leadership to junior team members, capitalizing on individual and group strengths to ensure project targets are achieved;
  • Taking a lead role in the establishment of project management systems used for the planning and control of their own project(s);
  • Analyzing project, program, resource demand information – detailed cash flow analysis, cost estimating, forecasting, and budgeting of difficult complexity;
  • Providing contract administration, including reviewing contract deliverables, invoices, contractor timecards, etc.;
  • Producing and updating project work breakdown structures, project cost estimates, schedules, and various control databases;
  • Working with the Project team to prepare project plans and reports related to scope, cost, and schedule;
  • Interacting daily with task leaders, gathering and analyzing critical project performance information, investigation variances, initiating corrective actions and changes, and monitoring trends;
  • Attending project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the project’s ongoing progression;
  • Training Junior/Intermediate Project Control Coordinators on core planning and control processes (work break down structure, cost estimating, cost control, scheduling, risk management, etc), systems and templates;
  • Identifying and managing opportunities and risks to achieve the best possible impact on schedule and financial targets;
  • Understanding and applying the guidelines of ANSI/EIA-748-C: Earned Value Management Systems, to projects;
  • Maintaining, tracking and reporting all financial aspects of the project(s) including project cost forecasts, procurement invoices, accruals and actual costs billed to the project(s);
  • Confidently asking probing/relevant questions related to project performance;
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to complex problems;
  • Coordinating the scope definition and assisting in the preparation of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS);
  • Preparing / maintaining the development of the baseline and working project schedules;
  • Performing Earned Value Analysis to measure the project(s) schedule and cost performance;
  • Implementing changes to scope and cost, ensuring related approval and project change control documentation is in place before baselines are adjusted;
  • Working with the Project team to prepare and maintain the project(s) risk register;
  • Analyzing the schedule / cost performance and risk assessment;
  • Preparing / implementing resource and cost loading of schedules;
  • Preparing / presenting source information used for financial forecasting and resource demand;
  • Preparing project bid and scheduling submissions;
  • Ensuring document submissions are complete in a timely manner;
  • Supporting the Project Manager to achieve project targets, and or exceed, customer and company expectations;
  • Tracking and managing incoming and outgoing project management paper work as necessary;
  • Developing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with core project team members;
  • Developing planning and control framework processes, including definition of the hierarchies, coding and account structures required for tracking, analysis and performance measurement;
  • Implementing changes, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions;
  • Developing / supporting Project & Program Costs team in the cost estimating and budgeting processes when required;
  • Chairing / participating in project review meetings and making presentations of project information;
  • Working with contractors & consultants on construction schedules and incorporating contractor schedules into the master P6 schedule;
  • Conducting Critical Path analyses with project team and providing corrective actions or solution for deviation;
  • Receiving progress updates from contractors and project team and updating P6 master schedule;
  • Managing and maintaining the change control process for respective project(s); and
  • Identifying and recommending improvements to complex processes that affect own area, others and / or clients;
  • Encouraging / supporting innovation among others, extending to related areas / departments.
  • Responding to situations to contain / mitigate short-term risk in accordance with established processes and procedures; and
  • Performing checks and balances on work.

What we are looking for:

  • University degree or college diploma in a relevant field from an accredited school.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of progressively more responsible work experience in Project Management.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and oral and written communication capabilities. Adept at synthesizing complex information and distilling such information into clear and concise messages for written reports or oral presentations;
  • Proven ability to network across multiple teams and at different levels within the organization;
  • Demonstrates questioning attitude and has the ability to assimilate complex data and recommends solutions;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Strong computer skills. Advanced level capability in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), MS Access and working knowledge of MS Visio, PCRS and ImpAct. Able to learn/use
  • CNL’s document management system and other CNL applications; and
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic, sound judgment, tact and diplomacy.
  • PMI Schedule Practitioner (PMI-SP) certification required; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of project management principles and processes, as recognized by the Project Management Institute (PMI), and a proven ability to apply this knowledge in the project controls of large and complex undertakings, especially those related to scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change control;
  • Proven ability to apply knowledge of Earned Value Analysis;
  • Understanding of the methods and resources used by functions engaged to perform project activities e.g. Engineering, Licensing, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Manufacturing, etc., as well as the deliverables typically produced. Recommends improvements to other CNL functions; and
  • Strong computer skills; Advanced level capability in scheduling software (Primavera); Ability to learn other systems such as Cobra.
