Each teammember contributes, individually and collectively, via their specific role and by supporting others to meet the Centre’s overall mission and goals. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Career Development Unit, the Employment Strategist will provide employment strategy services to students and recent graduates in individual and group formats.Your responsibilities will include developing program components to foster students’ individual career development process. Developing content for instructional workshops. Developing learning outcomes for workshops and/or services. Facilitating educational workshops for synchronous or asynchronous delivery. Advising students on job search, industry research and networking strategies, including cover letter, resume and interview preparation. Keeping well-informed on recruitment trends.Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising students on job search, industry research and networking strategies, including cover letter, resume and interview preparation
- Researching potential target markets to assist students in employment search planning
- Facilitating educational workshops and seminars for asynchronous and synchronous delivery
- Consulting with instructors, administrators and student groups on the development of tailored programming needs
- Determining key performance indicators to measure success
- Reviewing and assessing feedback received from workshops,programming and appointments
- Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
- Conducting detailed analysis on program effiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years in a career-related, human resources or employment recruitment setting.
- Experience providing individual jobsearch advising.
- Experience in program and curriculum development and assessment, including learning outcome development.
- Experience facilitating interactive workshops and providing one to one coaching of students, particularly with resumes, cover letters and interviews
- Experience working with teams and partners in assessing, developing, and providing services for virtual and in-person delivery.
- Demonstrated familiarity with students’ multilingual skills and multi-nationalexperiences.
- Strong experiential background in student transition; understanding student issues.
- Intercultural competency awareness and knowledge of theories related to equity, diversity and inclusion; experience working with diverse communities and cultures and understanding of anti-oppression and equity practices are required.
- Good understanding of university students and recent graduates’ career development needs.
- Curriculum development and assessment skills for both in person and virtual delivery.
- Sound presentation, workshop facilitation and public speaking skills; able to adapt to students’ and campus partners’ needs.
- Knowledge and ability to use computer software and design tools such as MsPowerPoint, virtual presentation/conferencing systems (eg. Zoom, Teams) and automated systems(eg. job search databases and learning management systems)
- Strong service orientation and oral and written communication skills, especially with diverse student population.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, including time management and prioritization skills, ability to work on multiple tasks in high demand times and attend to details.
- Knowledge of employer recruitment practices and trends.
- Tact, discretion, sensitivity to confidential matters.
- Well developed computer skills in word-processing and using the the internet for online research
- Comfortable with automated computer systems (eg. job search databases, learning management systems)

USW Pay Band 11 — $73,748 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $94,310. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
