To find out more about usElective Home Education AdviserThe role of the Education Adviser is to work as part of a small team within the Education Welfare Service following local and national guidance for supporting children and young people who are elective home educated (EHE). This role requires consideration of the different types of education arrangements which parents arrange with an emphasis on understanding how education is being provided. The Education Adviser will have teacher status and experience of working with children and families, either in a school or other education setting.This role involves direct contact with families, including telephone calls and home visits in order to determine if suitable and efficient education is taking place. The Education Adviser will complete reports relating to the home education arrangements, update systems, share reports and attend meetings. The role requires an understanding of education legislation and the duties of LAs and parents in relation to DfE Elective Home Education guidance. The postholder will have experience of building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse set of stakeholders, including children, young people and their families. They will have proven ability to use data, intelligence and evidence to create meaningful insight and to inform their own decision making. The role requires the keeping and maintaining records and producing accurate reports, written updates to a range of stakeholders. - Supporting and communicating home educating families through contact and home visits, working closely with the Education Welfare Service as well as keeping accurate records and writing reports
- Working closely with the EHE lead to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of all aspects of this role, so to ensure that the service area’s needs are met on time and to agreed standards
- Reporting to the operational manager who oversees EHE
- The post holder will be required to manage a caseload working closely with the EHE officer and lead in order of case priorities.

- Teacher qualification QTS and experience of working in a primary and or secondary education environment
- You are able to use evidence and professional judgement to make decisions and determine plans regarding education arrangements.
- Experience of assessing the needs of children and their families in accordance with education needs/suitable and being efficient.
- Knowledge and awareness of different approaches to education
- Excellent communication skills and understanding of the various ways education can be delivered
