Job description

We’re looking for a Waking Night Worker to be the first point of contact to customers at our male or female scheme during the night. You’ll provide support, manage access to the building, deal with emergencies and carry out health and safety checks.The recruitment process for this role will include a two-stage interview. Stage one will be a virtual Microsoft Teams meeting and stage two will give you the chance to visit one of our accommodation schemes to see where you would be working from.Job requirements

  • Work independently during the night at either our male or female scheme.
  • Carry out regular checks within the scheme and monitor CCTV and external doors to make sure the scheme is secure.
  • Make sure the scheme is kept clean and safe.
  • Spend time talking to residents, especially those more likely to be seen at night.
  • Deal with enquiries such as telephone calls and any other administrative duties.
  • Update systems to make sure all events during the night are recorded.
  • Maintain a friendly and supportive environment within the scheme.
  • Provide handovers to the manager and day staff every morning. You’ll detail any incidents, safeguarding concerns or work to be handed over and make sure all information is recorded accurately on the relevant systems.

What we’re looking for

  • Someone with a genuine understanding and compassion for people without a home, who won’t judge but instead will empower customers and give them a voice.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach and someone able to work around the needs of the customer.
  • Some experience dealing with the public and/or customers in a busy service environment.
  • Some experience dealing with complex/ difficult behaviours in relation to people experiencing multiple disadvantages.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Lived experience would be an advantage.
  • Someone able to drive and use their own vehicle for work to visit other schemes when necessary.
