Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) has a great opportunity for a full-time Patient Accounts Specialist I. The Patient Account Specialist I is responsible for billing and follow-up of both professional and technical components for third party & Self-pay claims (s) until final resolution and the claim is zero balanced, supporting the mission, vision, and values of the Patient Business Services Department.What you’ll do day-to-day:
- Account Management: Review and process paper and electronic claims promptly, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Maintain documentation of transactions and coordinate account transfers within set timelines.
- Billing Compliance: Collect and update billing information, communicate professionally with payors, and attend training sessions to ensure compliance with payor-specific billing requirements.
- Departmental Contribution: Follow up on claims until resolution, maintain outstanding days within industry standards, and effectively communicate with patients. Research credit balance accounts and initiate necessary actions.
The ideal candidate holds a minimum High School Diploma and exhibits strong interpersonal skills, presenting themselves positively and courteously to the public. They should demonstrate the ability to work independently, effectively handle multiple tasks, and possess strong troubleshooting capabilities.Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital is located in St. Johnsbury in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.
