For more information on employment-related resources available for those with disabilities, refer to the .If you are contacted for an interview, please let us know at that time if you will need special accommodations.NOTE: Prior to an appointment, the selected applicant must take and pass a drug screening test, possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License and clear a background check.This agency participates in the E-Verify system for verification of citizenship and employment authorization.QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional-level experience in juvenile probation and parole, social services, counseling, or in a residential, correctional, mental health, or group home setting.SUBSTITUTIONS:Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.Assists the Youth Facility Deputy Director and Youth Facility Director in the administration of a comprehensive professional program for juvenile offenders who have been committed for offenses ranging from misdemeanors to felonies (e. g., shoplifting to rape to all grades of homicide).Assists in directing all phases of institution security operations.Contributes to the preparation and administration of the institution’s security budget.Assists in developing and insuring the implementation of institutional policies, procedures, and regulations.Conducts investigations relating to grievances filed by employees and offenders.Maintains communications with a large number of judges and appropriate members of courts using a statewide network of juvenile probation workers, representatives of community agencies, and the juvenile justice system.Coordinates the review and evaluation process for continued American Corrections Association (ACA) accreditation.Participates in all facility boards and makes recommendations to the Youth Facility Director concerning inmate status.Inspects buildings and grounds in order to ensure proper security policies and procedures are followed.Louisiana State Government represents a wide variety of career options and offers an outstanding opportunity to make a difference through public service.
