You will adjudicate credit requests up to limits; make sound recommendations on larger loans and ensure the loan portfolio is managed effectively and in adherence to Bank policy and standards.Given a diverse range of risks in the portfolio and regular interaction with a variety of internal contacts, you will benefit from an environment which fosters continuous learning and development and from an opportunity to make a positive contribution to the Bank.Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Contribute to the quality of the loan portfolio through:
- Providing prompt and sound decision making in the analysis and adjudication of credit proposals within assigned limits;
- Making recommendations to the appropriate adjudicating levels;
- Providing recommendations to improve the structure of marginal proposals into bankable deals as appropriate;
- Monitoring the timely submission of all applications;
- Improving the quality of applications and submissions;
- Ensuring the accuracy of data in various databases and reports.
- Ensure that all terms and conditions of authorizations are accurate, and that the Bank’s position is fully guarded by way of adequate security requirements and appropriate credit conditions.
- Ensure risk assessment guidelines are applied and provide feedback and guidance to the field on these principles.
- Ensure the maintenance of acceptable quality in the portfolio by:
- Monitoring the quality of accounts;
- Monitoring portfolio/industry trends and recommending suitable courses of action;
- Following for submission of reporting in accordance with requirements established for individual accounts.
- Provide appropriate and meaningful feedback in a constructive manner to Banking team members.
- Demonstrates skills and solid knowledge in the following areas:
- Bank’s lending policies, practices and procedures;
- Financial statements and accounting principles;
- Implications of domestic/international/economic/statutory and industry conditions;
- Competitor practices, economic and business trends and provincial/federal legislation;
- Loan syndications and capital markets.
- Work effectively by consulting with other team members, Banking and other areas of the Bank (including Loan Syndications Group and Roynat) and share best practices with other team members within the group.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:
- Post-Secondary Education is required.
- Good understanding of Commercial Credit / Banking and the Bank’s credit policies and procedures.
- Skilled in financial analysis and accounting, risk assessment and developing creative financing proposals demonstrating sound credit judgment.
- Solid understanding of security documentation, legal ramifications and remedies.
- Good understanding of various and diverse industries in which incumbent will be required to make / recommend credit decisions and must be attentive to local economic trends within the assigned geographical area.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) to converse effectively with line and corporate personnel.
- Ability to make decisions, frequently in the face of uncertainty, and clearly inform rationale for decisions.
