We recognise the value of remote and hybrid working so are open to applications throughout the UK.The RoleThe opportunity exists to further your career in the pre-FEED phases of project implementation (framing, assess, select and early definition etc.). As an experienced engineer, with a history of experience dealing with energy transition/decarbonisation projects, you will have a passion for developing relationships with our client base through the delivery of high value adding solutions in the energy transitions sectors.Focusing on predictable project delivery against key internal and external metrics of cost, schedule and quality you will develop technoeconomic solutions that enables your client to progress to the next stage in their decision gate process. You will interface and lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and Subject Matter Experts to deliver best in class solutions and high customer satisfaction.The ideal candidate will be charismatic and enthusiastic about value-adding in early phase studiesOur Clients and ProjectsIt’s a future for all of us. Our experts have a depth of experience providing proven and agile decarbonisation solutions for the energy and materials industries. We are using our expertise to ensure clients meet decarbonisation targets set by investors, governments and key stakeholders.Our in-house capabilities include;

  • Emissions baselining and lifecycle carbon assessment inclusive of all aspects of Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions.
  • Identifying, screening and evaluating supply and demand side emissions reduction technologies and initiatives via our decarbonisation opportunity screening framework.
  • Building net-zero decarbonisation roadmaps with journey times, drivers and identified milestones.
  • Inform client decision-making to support CO2 emission reduction from a cost-of-carbon-abated perspective.
  • Developing climate governance and management frameworks and embed decarbonisation across development life cycles.
  • Identifying, assessing, mitigating, and managing climate related physical and transitional risks and opportunities
  • Informing clients on and factoring into decision making current and future decarbonisation policies, product carbon intensity standards, carbon pricing and funding opportunities.
  • Ultimately supporting clients achieve their climate change ambitions.

Responsibilities:The key objectives for this role are:

  • Win work – execute work – present solution and promote wood for the next phase.
  • Develop and manage strong customer and internal relationships with a one-Wood mindset that facilitates business development opportunities.
  • Deliver pre-FEED scopes of work in accordance with the contract whilst managing project risk profile and change.
  • Lead a study team of SMEs and engineers to provide solutions. Provide development and interpretation of those solutions into client-facing reports and presentations.
  • A growth mindset built around an “everything is possible” attitude and leadership qualities and that provide real-world solutions to our Client’s complex multi-faceted problems.
  • A strong listener and communicator, confident at presenting ideas orally and in writing to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering or Science Discipline
  • Commercial awareness of project delivery
  • Understands the levels of detail required to support the early phase decision making process for pre-FEED phases (pre-feasibility, concept, feasibility, pre-FEED etc)
  • Experienced in chairing meetings and facilitating workshops
  • Capable of motivating and leading multi-disciplined and multi-cultural teams, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive culture
  • Capable of interpreting SME inputs and developing those into Client facing proposals and reports.
  • Communicates effectively to build collaboration and influence stakeholders
  • Thinks strategically, takes decisions and delivers results

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer or Scientist
  • Member of an appropriate professional institution
  • Some level of qualification from Association of Project Management or similar
  • Commercial exposure through responsible positions in Proposals, Legal or Commercial
  • Experience in FEED, EPC, Commissioning and / or Operations such that Clients recognise the experience from later phases being considered in their early project phase
  • Proficient in the use of project scheduling, estimating and cost accounting tools and methods
