Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As Manager, Financial & Regulatory Reporting team in providing accurate, timely, consistent and value added financial reporting to RBC CFO Senior Management, External Reporting, Investor Relations and the bank’s regulators with respect to our Consolidated Balance Sheet. You will support the implementation of process changes to drive efficiency and meet changing external requirements, while maintaining an exceptional control environment.What will you do?
- Coordinate, prepare, and reconcile financial disclosures and regulatory returns at the RBC Consolidated level for monthly, quarterly and year end deliverables
- Prepare and review journal entries, proof of balance, and reconciliations for review by team members or manager in support of monthly and quarterly close processes
- Gather and consolidate financial information and conduct complex data analysis with large datasets working to identify patterns, trends or insights
- Analyze reports and related data for completeness, accuracy, consistency with other reported financial information, and data quality issues
- Prepare and maintain process documentation, accounting guidance, and operational guidance for assigned financial disclosures and regulatory returns
- Be an active participant in cross-training with other team-members to ensure team resilience and business continuity planning
- Investigate queries to support resolution of issues on behalf of internal and external stakeholders with respect to financial disclosures and regulatory returns
- Support new financial and regulatory reporting initiatives/projects through interpreting requirements, working with subject matter experts such as Accounting Policy Group, Platform Financial Controllers, Product Controllers, and Finance IT to propose, implement, and test reporting solutions
What you need to succeed?Must Have
- 2+ years’ of experience in financial accounting or financial reporting role, preferably in the financial services or professional accounting services industries
- Ability to manage and analyze large data through automate tools and using advanced Excel functions; understand database concepts and medium level programming abilities
- Ability to critically think and challenge financial data when inconsistent or illogical through data analysis
- Ability to independently propose solutions to problems and, leveraging business and strategic insights, recommend a course of action, in spite of incomplete information and complexity
- Ability to manage timelines and project progress through both personal accountability and through coordinating and negotiating with stakeholders
- Ability to make complex subject matter easy-to-follow though strong written and oral-communication skills
