Job description
The Department of Chemistry is looking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry. The post-holder will contribute to teaching and examination in Inorganic Chemistry and to the development of the undergraduate curriculum, including the delivery of Department-wide examinations (collections). In addition, they will also contribute to other teaching-related projects on behalf of the Inorganic Chemistry Section.The post-holder will develop and deliver material for the for the new Oxford/EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Inorganic Materials for Advanced Manufacturing (IMAT); . A significant part of the role will be provision of tutorial teaching at three colleges and in the first instance these will be The Queen’s College, Jesus College and Exeter College. Full details of the role can be found in the job description.The post is located in the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, Oxford and will commence on 1 July 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. This a fixed-term appointment of 5 years.The successful candidate will hold, or be close to completion of, a doctorate in inorganic chemistry or a closely-related subject. They will demonstrate excellence, or the potential for excellence, in teaching inorganic chemistry, at undergraduate level (including tutorial and class teaching) and have sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop novel course materials and methodologies. The candidate will demonstrate a track record of innovation in the teaching of inorganic chemistry and will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, time-management and organisational skills.The Department of Chemistry is a large and vibrant community of people made up of academics, teaching, research and support staff and students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
