Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant
- Location: Sunderland, Tyne and Wear
- Salary: £80 – £100 per day

GSL Education is looking for a Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to work within primary education in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.Job Summary: The SEMH TA will support primary-aged students who face barriers to learning related to social, emotional, and mental health issues. The role includes assisting in the creation of a stable, supportive environment that aids students’ educational and personal growth.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support and group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in implementing behavior management strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers and SENCO to support students’ educational plans.
- Encourage and assist students in their academic and personal development.
Requirements:
- Experience working with SEMH or a strong desire to work within SEN settings.
- Empathetic and patient approach to student interactions.
- Strong behavioral management skills with a focus on positive reinforcement.
- Resilience and dedication to helping students overcome challenges.
