Education and Practice Coordinator, PICNetProvincial Infection Control NetworkVancouver, BCPICNet is hiring an Education and Practice CoordinatorConsider joining the Provincial Infection Control Network of BC (PICNet) and playing an integral role in leading the creation of provincial infection prevention and control guidance and educational resources and influencing strategic priorities for the province.The E&P Coordinator acts as a provincial leader in developing infection prevention and control guidance and resources for British Columbia. An important component of this role is engagement and collaboration with multi-disciplinary partners to work collectively on the development of evidence-informed resources notably by reviewing, appraising, and translating evidence to inform provincial infection prevention and control practices.The E&P Coordinator/Leader is a subject matter expert and maintains current knowledge of infection prevention and control standards and emerging issues and possesses strong written and oral communication skills.The Provincial Infection Control Network of British Columbia (PICNET) is a provincial program of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) that works to reduce healthcare-associated infections in BC healthcare facilities. Our key areas of focus are surveillance, evidence-based guidelines, and education. PICNet works together with partners on provincial surveillance initiatives, development and promotion of evidence-based best practices, and the creation of educational and operational tools. Our community of practice includes experts in infection prevention and control, occupational health and safety, public health, infectious diseases, patient safety and quality, microbiology laboratories, and others.Reporting to the Network Director, the Education and Practice Coordinator leads the development of practice guidelines and education tools for the Infection Control Community of Practice. This includes critical appraisal of relevant research and translation of this research into practice recommendations, utilization of educational/ curriculum theory and knowledge of clinical practice to design and develop infection control education tools and programs for infection control professionals, healthcare providers, patients and families.What you’ll do
- Leads the collation, development and maintenance of infection prevention and control educational resources and initiatives that serves the entire continuum of care. Identifies, analyses, and uses relevant and valid information including research findings in the development of educational curriculum.
- Facilitates competence development by planning, developing, and evaluating infection prevention and control orientation and continuing education programs. Develops and adapts educational programs and materials in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Promotes infection control education by acting as a clinical and educational resource, role model and mentor to health care staff. Provides information and consultation to health care providers regarding evidence-based practices. Sets priorities when planning and providing educational programs to respond to provincial educational needs and emerging issues.
- Maintains and updates knowledge of education and practice by reviewing and critically appraising current literature and research, and identifying new theories/trends/programs to ensure clinical education programs, resources and activities are current, accurate and appropriate. Applies learning and communication theory to create a professional learning environment for learners in classroom, online, workshops, and clinical teaching and learning settings.
- Maintains competence in knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation that influence curriculum content including the Public Health Act and Health Professions Act within British Columbia.
- Provides input into research planning and implementing research activities and assisting in review of research results.
What you bringQualifications
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in a regulated health care profession, plus completion of an Infection Prevention and Control Certificate from a recognised accredited program, and completion of education development courses (such as curriculum design and delivery) from an accredited program.
- Seven (7) years’ experience working with policy makers, practitioners and researchers, including three (3) years’ experience in Infection Prevention and Control, and clinical experience in diverse health care settings. Current practicing registration with a relevant professional association.
- Demonstrated ability to critically appraise infection control-related evidence and translate into practice; teach, facilitate and coach in online, clinical, and workshop settings; and develop and present educational programs and materials. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team; establish workload priorities, plan and organize work, and work with time-sensitive projects; adjust to new or unexpected events, deal effectively with conflict situations, and problem-solve. Previous experience with accessing literature databases, undertaking literature searches, and considering multi-media resources for educational purposes. Demonstrated skill to operate related equipment, including various word processing and other software packages.

Job Type: Regular, Full-TimeSalary Range: $88,990 – $127,923 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
