If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you!Reporting to the Manager, Logistics Operations the Supervisor is responsible for providing effective leadership and supervision over the trades and lead hands including Hoisting Engineers, Heavy Equipment Operations, and Drivers. The position will set and manage performance standards for the team and is accountable for the safe, effective execution of the work/schedule.What will you be doing!Operations Planning and Development

  • Review and sign off on work plan and packages, including advising on fabrication, material issues, and alternative approaches to construction/manufacturing methods in consultation with necessary parties.
  • Interface with maintenance work groups to oversee the schedule and determine required resources for completing jobs and scheduling conflicts. Ensuring the work is being carried out per schedule and customers’ expectations. Complete walk-downs as required with appropriate customers, trades, landlords, Engineers, etc.
  • Ensure a regular field presence to ensure safety compliance, schedule focus, and customer satisfaction. Complete day to day pre-job briefs, visual whiteboards, and post-job briefs and assign work to employees.
  • Accountable for achieving KPI targets for the department.
  • Attend and chair all required meetings (POW, POND, Safety etc.) as required.
  • Review documents as required.
  • Other duties as required.

People-Supervisory Duties to Perform:

  • Creates the conditions/opportunities/environment, that brings out the “best” in the team; ensuring safe, efficient execution, including identification of multi-skilling opportunities, of the work/schedule.
  • Provides leadership to a team of Hoisting Engineers, Grader Operators, and Mechanical Service Attendants, ensuring they meet performance standards.
  • Measure deviations and take corrective action towards improvement through individual training plans, performance appraisals and lessons learned analysis for technical leadership and administrative aspects.
  • Participate in the hiring, selection, orientation, onboarding and training of new employees. Ensure that all new employees are welcomed to the team, are supported to succeed, and are trained to perform their role safely and effectively.
  • Provides frequent oversight and supervision for staff under their supervision. Provide regular training, observation, monitoring, coaching, instruction, recognition, feedback and corrective action to ensure each team member is performing according to expectations. Documents observations, provides regular reports and escalates matters to the attention of the Manager. Actively participate in incident investigations, return to work meetings and management of bioassay requirements.

  • Knowledge and skills necessary to direct the fabrication construction, installation, and inspection of a variety of complex equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings and interpret complex construction drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to job budgets/schedules and to meet deadlines.
  • Initiative to resolve problems and expedite resources, work plans, or other appropriate actions.
  • Good knowledge of software systems such as CMMS, ORACLE, and other applicable programs.
  • Self-motivated, possesses excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to interact with peers, other departments, and external vendor.
  • Ability to self-manage and perform administrative responsibilities related to various tasks.
