Join us and help shape the future of senior living!Overview: The Corporate Controller provides direct supervision of the Accounting team, generates monthly financial reporting requirements, and works with technical accounting to implement accounting standards and practices. Maplewood Senior Living is looking for a full time Corporate Controller to join our team.Key Responsibilities:
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Assists in the coordination with external audit function
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of monthly close and reporting function
- Assists in the preparation of budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
- Helps achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by monitoring existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
- Ensures the completion of external financial reports and debt covenant calculations for distribution to capital partners.
- Responsible for certain treasury functions, including oversight of cash management and related standards and practices.
- Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Demonstrates attention to detail
- Perform other duties or projects as assigned by the CAO.
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, master’s degree preferred
- 12+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Prior supervisory experience managing accounting staff
- Strong understanding of accounting rules and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal control compliance standards
- Advanced analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and problem solve
- Ability to effectively balance multiple simultaneous priorities and deadlines
- Highly organized and self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to identify, escalate and respond quickly to unexpected challenges and opportunities.
- Ability to effectively lead, inspire and develop potential team members.
- Superior communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal skills; able to listen effectively to solve problems, anticipate issues and make effective decisions; and perform responsibilities as a team player
