Job description

We are looking to appoint 2 teaching assistants to join our fantastic team at the primary resource base for deaf children, based at Newlands School from September 2024. You will be required to support and assist with the development of deaf children within the school. The role will involve a combination of class-based support and withdrawal for specialist interventions under the guidance of a Teacher of the Deaf.Role Requirements:

  • Certified in British Sign language (BSL) – minimum level 1 qualification with a willingness to take on level 2
  • Have excellent deaf awareness skills
  • Experience working with children
  • Experience working with deaf children – minimum 1 year (preferred)
  • Have a passion and love for working with children
  • Be a dedicated, engaging and creative member of the RBD and school team
  • Be committed to ensuring pupils make good sustained progress
  • Inspire pupils to reach their full potential through engaging and stimulating teaching
